HABITER LES FISSURES

MILENA DESSE | 2026 | 16mm | super 8 | Dial français, oromo, néerlandais, anglais | ST FR / EN | 22’

A choral film shot in one of Brussels’ largest current squats: Zonneklopper (ZK). Squatters and weeds coexist within the brick walls of this former factory. Oscillating between the political and the poetic, between the macroscopic and the microscopic, *Habiter les Fissures* unfolds by blending 16mm and Super 8 footage, accounts from former factory workers and current squatters, as well as a soundscape inspired by the building and the plants within it. A film like a place, a place of dialogue, a place of coexistence.

RETOUR VERS NOS FUTURS

DESPINA M | FR ST EN | 117’

A few years after the victory of the ZAD at Notre-Dame-des-Landes, those who have chosen to stay and live in the bocage tell the story behind the scenes. Behind the movement’s united front, conflicts, disagreements and power struggles have not disappeared. How can people work collectively when their positions are sometimes at odds? How can violence be managed without the police or the state? *Retour vers Nos Futurs* delves into these contradictions and questions what the self-determination of a territory really means.

This is Steven’s story. A rather unusual little boy who keeps having the same nightmare. A little boy who lives in a former mining area where poverty reigns supreme. A little boy who is bullied by the others, a sort of scapegoat to whom the night offers a pact, an escape route and the splendid possibility of a revolution.

PETITE SALLE

13:30 – 27.09 | ZOROBABEL | COMPILATION

Pellicule végétale

Outcome of the ‘Phytograms’ workshop at Zorobabel. With the participants: Aline Quertain, Jeanne Boukraa, Adele Pion, Jenni Reghem, Sandrine Eloy, Tea Mikic, Marcha Van Boven and Laila Bohnenberger.

Noir de noir

Over the course of a week, eight film-makers experimented with the technique of negative animation by scratching away at graphic surfaces such as paint, plasticine, sand or coffee, whilst letting themselves be carried away by pieces of classical music.

Le Marais Wiels

The Wiels Marais has developed in Forest, very close to Zorobabel, featuring a body of water and wetlands – which are vital for numerous species of birds, amphibians and insects – as well as suitable vegetation that has enabled local biodiversity to flourish. In this animated documentary, various people speak out in defence of this site. The directors trace the history of this natural haven, which is constantly under threat from property development projects, and highlight the work of the volunteers who maintain it on a daily basis.

La Mammifère

I am the mammalian woman. I am the being of flesh. I am the being of blood. I am the young mother, newly baptised by the child’s cries. At the height of my nocturnal screams, the stars lined my eyelids, when from the cavern beneath my moon, light burst forth.’

15:00 – 27.09 | LA VILLE COMME TERRAIN DE JEU | COMPILATION | 65’

Cat And Drone

Because the world keeps growing more dangerous, the cat is not allowed to go outside. Still, it is a story about a cat who longs to see the world beyond.

Ici ou ici

Collectif Hasard (Shayma Awawdeh, Maxime Faure, Fuad Hindieh, Julie Mengelle, Emmanuel Piton, Hélène Rastegar and Ariane Zevaco)   | 8′

A hand searching for a key opens the door to a possible return home. But as the search continues, memory falters, and past and present blur in the face of the impossible. Here or there.

Où disperserons-nous les cendres du vieux monde ?

VON GIMENEZ | 2025 | 16′

A hypnotic journey into the heart of a Paris steeped in memory, at once torn apart and exalted. The flames of Notre Dame lick at the political slogans and bite into the crowd: for the space of a day and a night, medieval madness and the Revolutionaries take to the streets of Paris.

Demonstration

Julien Posnic | France | 21′

A film made between 2020 and 2023 during the various pension protests in Rennes, France. It evolved gradually over this period, reel by reel. The sound is from 2020. The reels are simply spliced together. The film was made as part of the Labo K project in Rennes.

113 Bottles of Water in a Night Shop

L. Rottmann | EN | 11′

113 Bottles of Water in a Night-Shop explores women’s football through the eyes of a new supporter. Two friends attend their very first match and reflect on inequalities through contrasts tinged with humour. The story unfolds in the form of personal letters read as a voice-over, tracing the protagonists’ journey and showing how football can be both a space for struggle and for connection.

18:00 – 27.09 | Boosted Kitten

Live soundtrack

Boosted Kitten is a quartet of experimental musicians with links to the worlds of dance and cinema. For the past two years, silent films have been a source of boisterous joy for us, allowing us to try our hand at film concerts and to entertain by rediscovering the past. I was / I am – Barbara Hammer and Quiproquo – Rose Lowder will be accompanied musically by Sofia Kakouri, Julia Liedel, Jean Garrier and Jasmin Garbasi Kranich.

19:30 – 27.09 | RÉSULTAT KINOKABARET

Kino is a place where we tinker with film using three bits of string, a bit of brainpower and a whole lot of enthusiasm. It’s a space for experimentation, freedom, glorious failures and unlikely successes. But above all: it’s a shared space. And where there’s sharing, there are rules. Twenty people have spent 48 hours creating, experimenting, exploring visual rhythms and other fun activities, and they’ll be showing us the fruits of their collective labour during the festival.

COMPILATION

Laume | Aurore Fritz | 2026 | Images Patrick Fritsch août 1998 | FR | 13’

I am the eighth of my mother’s ten children, given to France to help regenerate the white, Catholic population. We are the good; we carry out God’s will. Drawing on images provided by an uncle, the film portrays the family living in ‘Laume’ in the late 1990s. The film seeks answers in the past, behind their faces – those who make the decisions and those who obey. Exploitation was the order of the day, the children behaved themselves, and the new fascism was there.

MAMIE 44

Lucie Dèche | FR ST ENG | 55’

In a conversation that unfolds across several floors, a girl discusses with her father, a historian and a stranger events that she did not experience and yet seems to have lived through.

ALCOOL SUCRE ET SILENCIATION 12’

A performance for two 16mm projectors fitted with speed controllers, with sound created live from loops on cassette tape. This piece is a stage in an ongoing project that explores the construction of silence within our families. Based on a series of photographs of family meals, it explores the relationship between adults and children, and the place each occupies. When wine and sugar serve to mask what might be said… A performance created at Labo K in Rennes.

GRANDE HALL

20:00 – 27.09 | KAPUTT MORTEM

Two wandering souls, unregenerate, drifting between worlds, timeless eras, geographically unpinned lairs. Bodies that are probably disjointed, certainly both senile and youthful at the same time. Gothic wannabe rock stars attempting to produce sounds, to harmonise with their homemade instruments fashioned from the surrounding rubbish. KAPUTT MORTEM is something impractical… an intrusion of something raw, unrefined… transcendental clownish noise!
